The first qualifier for the inaugural year of the $50,000 World Super Court professional doubles championship tournament was held today at 3-pm at Magic City Casino & Jai-Alai in Miami, Florida with 8-teams participating. There were a total of 7-matches and the volleys were long and the action was sizzling hot with the matches ending after 3 hours and 40 minutes. The matches were all played under Magic City’s H2H sports betting format.
The final 2-teams guaranteed a spot in the October 13th finals at Magic City after today’s qualifier are Goixerri-Aratz and Douglas-Benny. Goixerri-Aratz won the final match over Douglas-Benny and pocketed $2000 for the team while the 2nd place prize for Douglas-Benny was $1000. The final match was a hotly contested match between these teams of brothers, all on the Magic City 2022 roster. Goixerri-Aratz won the first set 6-5 while Douglas-Benny dominated the second set 6-3. The final match went back and forth and reached a 5-5 tie where the winner of the next point determined the 1st place winners, Goixerri-Aratz. All players were amazing and Goixerri played practically flawlessly and the team appeared unstoppable. Goixerri will definitely be a major force to be reckoned with at Magic City Pelota games (aka pari-mutuel games).
The play was incredible by both teams and one needs to watch the matches to grasp the extremely high level of professional play at this event. It’s also hard to comprehend the amazing talent exerted by young Benny who just started his pro career last year at Magic City. The event should be available for follow-up viewing soon on watchjaialai.com. Personally, this event provided a level of Jai-Alai play I’ve never witnessed before and I’ve watched many thousands of Jai-Alai games in Florida at nine different frontons, including national tournament events at the Palm Beach and Tampa frontons in the early 1980’s. I’ve never uttered the words “f…ing incredible” more times in my life than what I uttered today watching these matches.
Here’s the scoop on all the scores from today’s incredible event:
