Magic City kicked-off week 1 of the regular season on Kentucky Derby Day, May 1 of 2021, and showcased some great Jai-Alai action! The regular season now features six performances a week from Saturday through Tuesday with double-headers on Monday and Tuesday.
The changes for the 2021 regular season are as follows: 8-games a performance instead of 9 (no longer a 9-point superfecta game), addition of two Daily Double wagers with $2 min bets (no $1 tickets, so less of those small Daily Double payoffs like Dania has), increased guarantee to $5,000 for the Mighty Ocho (the $1 Pick 8 Jackpot wager bet), and LIVE fan viewing allowed starting Saturday May 8th. The LIVE fan viewing is only allowed for the Saturday performance at this time, but expect a capacity crowd for this on May 8th as this short-court Jai-Alai has become a great entertainment option with the faster paced games than traditional Jai-Alai at Dania Jai-Alai. Magic City Jai-Alai is the home of the best short-court Jai-Alai action in the country.
Anderluck won the Golden Cesta Award Week 1 by winning the most singles games with 5-wins (5-wins in 28-games). He took full advantage of winning some extra games played due to filling-in as a sub for Jeden who suffered a back injury (minor we believe) early in week 1. RonRon and Spinner both had exceptional weeks winning 4-games each ending the week, Win % and ITM % as follows: Spinner 33.3 and 75.0, RonRon 30.8 and 61.5.
The 2nd doubles tournament of 2021 also kicked-off Week 1 and the team of Cool Fitness-Spinner stole the show with 5-wins in their 12-games for 41.7% wins (overall record 12-5-1-1). Carballo-Tennessee did not disappoint either as their record was 12-3-1-5 for a commanding ITM stat of 75%. The team of Diaz-Douglas are currently win-less in 12-games but look for that to change soon. Douglas has started the regular season playing only doubles games but could be playing in one singles game a performance starting on Monday, May 10. Douglas has been out for some time recovering from a wrist injury.
Jeden and Bradley both scratched during the week due to back issues. Both players had started week 1 with some great stats. Jeden had 6-games played with 1-win and 2-places while Bradley had 1-win in 5-games played before his back issue. SayHiLi wishes a speedy recovery to these two Magic City Jai-Alai professionals.
Magic City set a new record for the 2021 trifecta pool in week 1 with a pool of $2,193 for game 8 on Monday. Payoffs have been excellent for the $1 trifecta, averaging $265 for week 1 for the 48-games played. Actually, Magic City’s $1 trifectas have been averaging between $240 and $265 for 6 of the last 7-weeks. Try comparing these averages to the Dania fronton to the north!
The popular Jai-5 wager was not won during week 1 and has a jackpot of $1,604.40 for the upcoming Saturday 4-pm performance. Based on Saturday wagering activity on this fun wager, the jackpot could surpass the $2,000 min guarantee for a single winning ticket. The record payoff for the Jai-5 is $27,348, making Magic City Jai-Alai the home of BIG PAYOFFS for Jai-Alai bettors.
H2H Jai-Alai games also kicked off on Saturday, May 1st, with the start of Doubles H2H at 1-pm. The doubles H2H is played every Saturday at 1-pm and singles H2H is Monday at 10-am. There is an astonishing $100,000 in H2H prize money to be awarded during the regular season. The doubles teams are the same as the doubles teams during the current doubles tournament that started May 1. This is the second doubles tournament of the year. If you haven’t yet seen any of the H2H games, you are really missing out as they are very intense and highly competitive!
Don’t forget to sign-up again for the great fan participation opportunity, ONLY at Magic City Jai-Alai. I’m talking about the Magic City Fantasy Jai-Alai League with cash prizes weekly for participants with the most points. The prize is $100 weekly but could be higher based on the number of active contestants.
Finally, apologies for not posting more frequently on this great entertainment option at Magic City Jai-Alai. I’m struggling to keep up at this time. I had a recent mini-stroke, world’s worst headache was the first indication and lasted about 40-minutes. I had to have several very expensive tests and those indicated it was indeed a stroke, so I’m having to take it a bit easier, and again, my apologies.
