Magic City Pelota Stats thru Week 3 – Bueno Wins Golden Cesta Award

The exciting Magic City pelota games concluded another week on Tuesday, March 1.  Bueno captured the Golden Cesta award by winning 4-singles games in his 9-appearances. The award goes to the player winning the most singles games for the week.  This is Bueno’s 5th GC award since joining the roster at the start of the 2019 season.  He benefited by securing spots in three early games this week and won two of those games.  Early game singles players are featured in games 1 and 2.  Bueno along with several other mid-game players have been filling in for El Barba in early games since he’s been recovering from a knee procedure during the off-season.  Also the scratch of Cool Fitness from early games on Monday and Tuesday (hamstring injury) has given some mid-game players more opportunities in early games.  Mid-game singles players are featured in games 3 and 4 each performance while the top singles players at Magic City Jai-Alai compete in the late pelota games which are games 6 and 8 each performance.  Currently, the pelota game players routinely compete in 6-singles games each week.  Doubles games are played games 5 and 7.  Note that “Pelota” is a distinction used by Magic City which started this year to distinguish between the Magic City Jai-Alai pari-mutuel games (pelota games) and the H2H games with sports wagering.  References to Battle Court H2H apply to the team aspect of H2H games which is also new and will be featured only through mid-April.

Good news for die-hard El Barba fans is the return of El Barba on Sunday March 6th where he will see pelota game action in early games 1 and 2.  Also, the long awaited return of RonRon is slated for Sunday where he will play initially in doubles games only with his tournament partner Vuelo.  RonRon will play in singles games when he’s been cleared to compete in those.  RonRon has been out since July 27th of last year and recovering from back issues.  SayHiLi welcomes back both players!

Pari-mutuel betting pools continue to be up more than 50% for 2022 compared to the last month of 2021, which is great for the sport and shows promise.  Trifecta pools hit the highest daily average for 2022 on Tuesday, March 1 and exacta pools have been comparable to those typically seen at Dania.  Caliente Casino in Mexico which also operates a greyhound track with daily simulcast greyhound races just added Magic City Jai-Alai pari-mutuel wagering to their simulcast menu starting on March 1 which should boost wagering pools once the word spreads as that includes other Mexico sites affiliated with the Caliente Casino.

The Jai-5 jackpot has been growing and will exceed the minimum guarantee of $2,000 for the first time in 2022 for Sunday’s pelota performance.  Big jackpot fans won’t want to miss out on this opportunity!
