Magic City Week 5 Wrap-Up, Week 6 Starts Saturday 4-pm!

Magic City concluded another week of exciting short-court Jai-Alai on Tuesday, June 1 with a Golden Cesta Award that came down to the end with the impressive Ikeda winning his 4th award. Ikeda had 7-singles wins for the week while Julen, who played great all week, had 6-wins and Ben, who is off to a great start, had 5-wins. Cool Fitness has made some amazing improvements and has become quite the contender in early games with 3-wins in his 14-singles game appearances, which was 1-win more than Magic City stars Douglas and RonRon had combined for the week.

The doubles tourney team of Kubala-Benny were the doubles team of the week with 4-wins in their 12-appearances for 33.3% wins while Diaz-Douglas with only 1-win led Week 5 in doubles % ITM with 66.7% (12-1-2-5). The team of Cool Fitness-Spinner still lead this 2nd doubles tournament of 2021 with 13-wins in 44-appearances for an impressive 29.5% wins and lead the 2nd place team of Kubala-Benny by 5-wins (Kubala-Benny: 39-8-7-7, 20.5% wins, 56.4% ITM). Carballo-Tennessee are 3rd with 7-wins (15.2% wins, 45.7% ITM). The next best teams have 4-wins or less and need to find another gear before they are left in the dust.

Th 2021 regular season Singles Championship is the most exciting to-date with so many players bunched-up at the top. Ben currently leads with 21-wins. Ben is perhaps one of the most dedicated players on the roster as he spends a large amount of time on the Magic City court in his off-time. He also worked at the Miami fronton in the off-season and got some good tips from a few of the world’s best players and this has rewarded him handsomely so far. Julen and RonRon are one win behind with 20-wins each and Ikeda has been closing the gap with his 17-wins. The youngest player on the roster and brother of Douglas, Benny, is tied at 15-wins with El Barba who has also been playing some consistent Jai-Alai and showing good form with his play. The hard-throwing Anderluck had 14-wins and Spinner has 12-wins. Spinner has the highest % ITM in singles with an incredible 65.2% and thus rewarding some smart trifecta bettors consistently with their wheel bets.

The week concluded with the Jai-5 being nailed by one lucky fan for a handsome $5,890 which was in the top 10 highest payoffs for this popular wager and was the 100th time this Jackpot-type wager was hit with a single winning ticket since the wager’s inception. A Jackpot wager is a wager where a bettor has to be the ONLY winning ticket to win the entire jackpot, otherwise the multiple winners with 5 of 5 correct winners share in splitting the consolation payoff for that performance. Magic City always announces how this popular wager works, which is identical to how numerous popular horse tracks operate their Jackpot wagers for Pick X betting. The objective of a pari-mutuel plant in offering Jackpot wagers is to build a large jackpot for their fan base. Large jackpots can be a big draw for fans and become more exciting the larger they grow. They also help increase the handle in betting on other races/games. Magic City Jai-Alai had its largest average trifecta handle per game the week the Jai-5 paid a whopping $27,348 during the short 10-week meet in 2021.

Get ready for Week 6 at Saturday 4-pm where fans are allowed in the fronton for live viewing (ONLY for Saturday performances at this time). Seating starts at 3:30 pm on a first-come first-serve basis. Be sure to load your four Magic City Jai-Alai Fantasy League picks for this week. Bueno is still not back in the entries for Saturday/Sunday. He has been experiencing chronic shoulder pain and we hope he gets back in action soon. Juice is still recovering from his injury and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Tune in to the H2H doubles games at 1-pm on Saturday on the JAC for some great games. There is $100k in H2H prize money for H2H singles and doubles during the regular season (May-November). Be sure to support Magic City short-court Jai-Alai, the most transparent Jai-Alai ever to be played, where players give it 100% all of the time, the way Jai-Alai is supposed to be played!
