Jai-Alai H2H is Back – Week 2 Update

After a great season of Battle Court action, Jai-Alai H2H Championship Series started up on Monday, April 18 with Singles Group 1 play followed by Singles Group II play on Tuesday, April 19. After a short break, the first full week of play started on Sunday, May 1.

H2H Championship Series matches are at 5pm EST with Doubles on Sundays, Singles Group I on Mondays and Singles Group II on Tuesdays.

Sunday’s matches are open to the public plus there is a new promotion “H2Hx10” for those in attendance. All you have to do is pick the winner of each match and the number of sets (either 2 or 3). If you get both right, you win $10. This is open for all matches throughout the evening, so if there are 6-matches, you could win $60 max. Each match is individual, so if you pick incorrectly, you still have a chance in the remaining matches.  You don’t have to be there for all the matches.

For the ‘week’, Douglas went 3-0 with wins over Aratz (6-3, 5-6, 6-0), Benny (5-6, 6-4, 6-2) and Nicolas (6-4, 6-2). Goixerri also earned three singles victories with wins over Jairo (6-4, 6-3), Aratz (6-3, 6-0) and Manny (6-5, 6-3). After being down 3-0 in the first set against Aratz, Goixerri ran off 12 straight points to win the match. RonRon won 3 matches with wins over Correa (6-1, 3-6, 6-3), Bradley (2-6, 6-3, 6-5) and Carballo (2-6, 6-3, 6-4).

Inaki went undefeated with wins over Julen (6-1, 3-6, 6-2) and Jairo (6-4, 6-3). Ikeda went undefeated as well with victories over Carballo (6-2, 6-2) and Ben (6-2, 4-6, 6-3). Bueno was 2-1 with wins over Correa (6-1, 4-6, 6-2) and Jeden who subbed for Ikeda (6-5, 2-6, 6-1). Kubala went 2-1 with wins over Bradley (6-2, 6-5) and Bueno (6-5, 4-6, 6-3).

The doubles team of Jeden-Nicolas went 2-0 with wins against Ikeda-Bradley (6-5, 6-0) and Diaz-Goixerri (3-6, 6-5, 6-3). The sub team of Inaki-Roque earned a win over Carballo-Kubala (6-2, 6-3) after some very strong doubles play in games 5 and 7 of the earlier Pelota games.

You may have noticed a new player on the roster – Chris Flores #92 will pair with Aratz in Doubles. Chris previously played at Calder and is excited to be making his Magic City debut. Welcome Flores.
